Includes reports received from Yates County Sheriff’s Department, Penn Yan Police Department, and New York State Police. It should be noted that these reports merely indicate that someone has been charged with an offense, and the use of the term “arrest” does not always mean someone was put in jail. These reports do not indicate guilt. 

Nicholas A. Varricchio, 19, of Rushville, and an unnamed 17-year-old male accomplice, were arrested Nov. 16 by New York State Police (NYSP) following investigation of an Oct. 2 burglary in Italy. Both were charged with 2nd degree burglary (class C felony) and 4th degree grand larceny (class E felony). Varracchio was released on bond, and the youth was released on cash bail, to answer in Italy Town Court later.

Karl B. Wilcox, 52, of Dundee, was arrested Nov. 17 by NYSP responding to a reported burglary. He was charged with 3rd degree burglary (class D felony) and petit larceny (class A misdemeanor). He was held for Centralized Arraignment Court.

Jarel M. Wright, 39, of East Main St., Waterloo, was arrested Nov. 26 by Yates County Sheriff’s Office Deputies (YCSO) after a traffic stop. A license check showed his to be revoked for a DWI conviction in June, and he was under an alcohol ignition interlock device restriction, but the vehicle was not equipped. He was charged with 2nd degree aggravated unlicensed operation (AUO), speeding, and driving without an interlock device. He was held at the Yates County Jail to await Arraignment Court.

Douglas Derr, 52, of North Ave., Penn Yan, was charged with 2nd degree unlawful possession of marijuana Nov. 28 by Penn Yan Police Department Officers (PYPD). He was released with an appearance ticket for village court.

Morgan D. Stratton, 22, of Chapel St., Prattsburgh, was charged with driving with a suspended registration Nov. 29 PYPD. She was released with an appearance ticket for Penn Yan Village Court.

Joshua D. Ennist, 33, of Sunnyside Road, Naples, was arrested for 2nd degree AUO Nov. 29 by YCSO after being stopped on Rte. 364 in Middlesex. He was held at the county jail to await Arraignment Court.

Ivan M. Rosas, 19, of East Main St., Penn Yan, was charged with 2nd degree AUO after being stopped by PYPD for an inadequate muffler. He was released with an apperance ticket for village court.

A one-car accident occurred Nov. 30 on Rte. 364 in Benton. YCSO, Penn Yan Fire Dept. and Ambulance Corps, and Medic 55 responded, finding Norman G. Delooza, 66, of Briggs Road, Penn Yan, entrapped and with facial injuries. His passenger, 9-year-old Lilliana M. Wright, of Briggs Road, Penn Yan, was able to remove herself from the car, but suffered back pain. They were taken to Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hospital for treatment. Investigation as to the cause of the accident is ongoing.
