Edwin Stebbins, 37, of Lake Street, Penn Yan, was arrested Jan. 10 by Ontario County Sheriff’s Deputies following a drunk driving crash at the intersection of Tileyard Road and Goose Street in Gorham. Stebbins’ car left the road and struck a combine harvester parked in the lawn of John Frey, 67, of Tileyard Road. Stebbins then allegedly forced entry into the Frey home where Deputies found him. He was taken by Gorham Ambulance to FF Thompson Hospital in Canandaigua for treatment of facial injuries. He was charged with 3rd degree criminal mischief, 2nd degree criminal trespass, DWI, and traffic violations. He will answer in Gorham Town Court later.


Brandon P. Parish, 32, of Penn Yan, was arrested Jan. 14 by Penn Yan Police Department Officers (PYPD) for driving without a court-ordered alcohol ignition interlock device. Officers stopped Parish for insufficient tail lights, and a check of his license revealed an ignition interlock restriction. Parish was issued appearance tickets for Penn Yan Village Court and released.


Jami L. Phillips, 32, of Flat St., Penn Yan, was arrested at 1:51 a.m. Jan. 15 by Yates County Sheriff’s Office Deputies (YCSO) following a one-car rollover crash on Rte. 245 in Italy. With the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle, Phillips failed field sobriety tests and was taken to Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hospital for a blood test. She was charged with DWAI by drugs, unlawful possession of marijuana, moving from lane unsafely, and speed not reasonable or prudent. She was released to a third party to appear in Italy Town Court.


Part of State Rte. 54A was closed for approximately 11 hours Jan. 15 due to a Hanson cement truck crashing at the bottom of Wager Hill Road in Jerusalem. Reportedly loaded with 10 yards of concrete coming down Wager Hill at 10:22 a.m., the truck overturned and slid down an embankment. Along with YCSO, Branchport and Penn Yan Fire Depts., Medic 55, Penn Yan Ambulance Corps, and Emergency Management responded. The driver, Joseph K. Roe, 46, of Rte. 14, Penn Yan, was flown by Mercy Flight to Strong Memorial Hospital with injuries to his head, hands, chest, and back. Roe was charged with speed not reasonable or prudent, moving from lane unsafely, and failure to stop at a stop sign. She will answer in Jerusalem Town Court. Multiple towing companies were called upon to right the truck which took several hours to remove.


James Petersen, 59, of Edwina St., Dundee, was arrested Jan. 15 by YCSO after being stopped for an infraction in Dundee. Smelling of alcohol, he failed field sobriety and chemical tests. He was charged with common law DWI, DWI with a .08% BAC or greater, failure to signal, and no headlights. He was released to a third party with tickets to answer in Dundee Village Court.


Max E. Barron, 21, of Adams Road, Penn Yan, was arrested Jan. 15 by YCSO on a warrant from Penn Yan Village Court for failure to appear. He was held at the county jail to await arraignment.


Tyler G. Wheaton, 23, of Penn Yan, was charged with driving with a suspended registration and no insurance Jan. 15 by PYPD after a traffic stop. Wheaton was issued tickets to appear in village court.


Carla J. Simonton, 59, of Martin Road, Naples, was arrested at 1:16 a.m. Jan. 16 by YCSO after being stopped on Italy Turnpike for an infraction. Failing field sobriety tests in custody and with a prior DWI conviction within 10 years, she was charged with felony DWI, felony aggravated unlicensed operation (AUO) refusal of a breathalyzer test, and failure to keep right. She was later released with appearance tickets for Italy Town Court.


Derrick W. Poston, 49, of Bellona, was ticketed Jan. 16 by PYPD for driving with a suspended registration. He was released with an appearance ticket for village court.


Brenda L. Stratton, 42, of Penn Yan, was arrested Jan. 16 by PYPD for criminal possession of a weapon 4th after officers found her in possession of a stun gun while at her apartment on an unrelated matter. She was taken into custody for processing and released with an appearance ticket for village court.


A one-car rollover accident occurred Jan. 17 on Rte. 14A in Barrington. YCSO reports Tricia L. Howell, 31, of Liberty St., Penn Yan, was driving south when she lost control of her vehicle, over-corrected, went off the pavement, rolled over down an embankment striking some trees, and came to rest on its side. State Troopers, Dundee Fire & Ambulance, and Medic 55 also responded. Howell was taken to Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hospital for treatment of chest pain from her seatbelt, and a minor laceration of her finger.


Brenda Hollenbeck, 55, of Ogden St., Penn Yan, was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana and inadequate muffler Jan. 17 by YCSO after a traffic stop. She was released with appearance tickets for Benton Town Court.


Thomas I. Butler, 37, of Stoney Creek Dr., Rochester, was charged with 3rd degree AUO Jan. 17 by PYPD. His license was suspended for failure to answer a summons from Monroe County as well as for failure to pay child support. He was released with appearance tickets for Penn Yan Village Court.


Leonardo Chavez-Gonzalez, 21, of Rte. 54, Penn Yan, was charged with 2nd degree AUO and inadequate headlamps Jan. 18 by PYPD. He was issued tickets to appear in village court.


Dennis D. Cote, 51, of Salt Point Road, Watkins Glen was charged with 3rd degree AUO and inadequate brake lights Jan. 19 by PYPD. Cote’s license was suspended both in New York and Pennsylvania for failure to answer a summons in Chemung County.


Tino M. Rivas, 47, of Keuka Park, was charged with petit larceny Jan. 20 by PYPD after police investigated a complaint. They say he entered a local business, took a 15-pack of beer off the shelf, went to the bathroom, put the beer in a backpack, and then left the business without paying. Rivas was released with tickets to appear in Penn Yan Village Court.
