HIMROD — Members and supporters of the Himrod Fire Department met Jan. 18 to recognize the completion of another year of service to the community, and honor the achievements and contributions of several volunteers.


Kevin Zimmerman was recognized as Firefighter of the Year for 2019. Chief Leon Ray Hoover said he is honored to be chief for volunteers like Zimmerman.


Lester Hoover and Eugene Nolt received the Chief’s Award.


Ben and Joyce Vedder were honored with the D.B. Miles Special Achievement Award in recognition of their years of dedication to the fire department.


Bryan Dixon, who completed 156 hours of training in 2019, received the 2019 training award.


Dee Muck received the 2019 First Responder Award.


Larry Sitzman was presented with the Presidential Award.


Andy Siwak and Ben Vedder each received pins for 45 years of service to the fire department. Lester Hoover and James Sorce Jr. earned pins for 15 years, and Matthew Westfall received a pin for 5 years.


Auxiliary Secretary Joyce Vedder presented special recognition awards to Arnie and Barb Sorensen.


Judy Arikian and Marsyl Sorce received pins for 10 years of service to the Auxiliary.
