The New York Presidential Primary Election will be held April 28, and the state primary will be held in June. If you are an unaffiliated voter who would like to have a say in the nomination process, you only have a day or two to change your registration.

Feb. 14 is the deadline to enroll in a political party in New York State to be eligible to vote in that primary. Any enrollment changes made after that date will be held until July 1. In the past, all changes to enrollment were held for up to a year and enacted the week after the General Election in November.

If you have a question about your voter status, call the Yates County Board of Elections office at 315-536-5135 or visit the office in the Yates County Office Building, 417 Liberty St., Penn Yan.
