The Yates County Farm Bureau is pleased to announce Triana Burgos-Farnan as the 2020 Yates County Farm Bureau Scholarship winner.  Triana was selected from several candidates who were required to submit an application and write an essay discussing an issue facing agriculture in their county with suggestions of how NYFB can support its members dealing with this issue.    Her application and essay were reviewed by the judges, and both factored into her being awarded the $500 scholarship.

Triana, a senior from Penn Yan Academy, has had a very active high school career and participated in several clubs and organizations including Varsity Club, Varsity Soccer, Interact (Youth Rotary) and FFA.   She has served as treasurer, chapter president and district president for FFA and has been elected to serve as vice-president for NYS FFA for 2021.  Triana has been named to the National Honor Society and plans to attend SUNY Cobleskill in the fall where she will study animal science.  She plans to become a large animal veterinarian.

“The world of agriculture has many bright young leaders,” said Larry Lewis, President of Yates County Farm Bureau.  “Triana and all of the other applicants have clearly demonstrated their depth of knowledge and commitment to agriculture.  With such talented and intelligent leaders on the horizon, the future of New York agriculture seems particularly bright.  We are thrilled that our scholarship money will be put to good use in helping these students to reach their full potential.”
