Darren R. Fox, 56, of Penn Yan, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, August 27, 2017.

Friends and family may call from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 2 at the Townsend Wood Funeral Chapel, 201 E. Elm St., Penn Yan, where a memorial service will follow at 2 p.m. Memorial donations may be made in Darren’s memory to the Jane Conley Memorial Bowling Scholarship.

He was born Feb. 17, 1961 in Penn Yan, the son of the late Richard E. and Eldeen (Coon) Fox. Darren graduated from Penn Yan Academy in 1979 and pitched for the high school baseball team. He attended Tompkins Cortland Community College and worked for Mercury Aircraft in Hammondsport as a shipping manager for 37 years. He was an avid bowler and is a member of the Finger Lakes Bowling Association Hall of Fame. He volunteered to assist with coaching the bowling team when his sons, Daniel and Peter bowled. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and hunting, especially deer hunting. He was a diehard NASCAR, NY Yankees fan and NY Giants fan. Darren was also a member of the Penn Yan

Elks Lodge, Penn Yan Moose Club, and the Penn Yan American Legion.

Darren is survived by his wife, Patricia (Corcoran) Fox; sons, Daniel Roy (Jinea Restivo) Fox and Peter John Fox; sister, Pamela (Scott) Mashewske; nephews, Joshua, Kyle, Thomas, Michael, and Jonathan Mashewske; as well as, several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Julie Fox, paternal grandparents, Roy and Helen Fox; step-grandmother, Mary Fox; and his maternal grandparents, Eldred and Clara Coon.
