Virginia M. Larder, 93, of Penn Yan, passed away Tuesday, September 11, 2018, at Geneva Living Center North.

Friends and family may call from 1 to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 29, at St. Michael’s Church, Liberty St., Penn Yan. A memorial Mass will follow at 2 p.m. at the church. Burial will follow at St. Michael’s Cemetery in Penn Yan. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Virginia’s memory may be made to Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hospital, 418 N. Main St., Penn Yan, N.Y. 14527, St. Michael’s Church, 210 Keuka St., Penn Yan, N.Y. 14527 or to Clinton Crest Manor, 411 Clinton St., Penn Yan, N.Y. 14527.

Virginia was born June 13, 1925, to the late Frank E. and Florence N. (Fiero) Monnin.

She was a graduate of St. Michael’s School and Penn Yan Academy Class of 1945. She was the longest member of the Johnson-Costello American Legion Women’s Auxiliary with 85 years of membership. She enjoyed bowling, playing golf and Bingo. Virginia loved to entertain her family and friends.

Virginia is survived by a son, Frank (Meg) Larder of Florida; daughters, Phyllis (David Philipps) Larder of Rochester, and Mary Ann (Rob) Martin of Penn Yan; daughter-in-law Cheryl Larder; grandchildren Brian (Alise) Larder, Joe (Meridith Amaral) Larder, Corey Martire, Amanda Larder, and Samantha Martin; great-grandchildren Antonio Martire, Sophia Larder and Vivian Larder; sister-in-law Verna Monnin; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Virginia was predeceased by her husband of 50 years, William G. Larder in 1997; son Robert H. Larder in 2017; and brother, Harry F. Monnin in 1997.
