Saturday, November 3, 2018, Mary Jane Lafler, loving wife, mother of three, grandmother of four, and great-grandmother of 10, passed away at the age of 83.

Per Mary Jane’s request, there will be no viewing/calling hours or funeral services.

Mary Jane was born on Sept. 3, 1935, in Penn Yan to Earl & Elsie (Hainsworth) Williams. She was one of four children. She married Henry E. Lafler Jr. May 8, 1952, and succeeded 59 years (until Henry passed away July 17, 2011. Throughout this time, Mary Jane Lafler was a farmer’s wife & mother to Harold, Linda, and Roger (deceased Feb. 25, 1996). She served for 33 years as an account clerk while assisting her husband, Henry, who was the Animal Control Officer for Yates County, with day-to-day operations, record keeping, and secretarial needs.

Mary Jane had a passion for cooking, babysitting, sewing, numerous arts/crafts, and playing cards. She possessed a deep love and appreciation for her family, friends, and conservative lifestyle. She was admired for being the “perfect wife, mother, (great) grandmother” to all who had crossed her path.

Mary Jane was preceded in death by her husband, Henry; son, Roger; father, Earl; mother, Elsie; brother, Herbert; sisters, Alma and Carol. She is survived by her daughter and primary caregiver, Linda (Greg) Santasieri, son; Harold Lafler (Maxine); grandchildren, Kelly (Seth) Wadsworth, Matthew (Deven) Fritz, Angela Lafler (Steven), and Sadie (Patrick) White; great-grandchildren, Jonathan, Lizzy, Blake, Nicholas, Ryleigh, Brooke, Dylan, Meggie, Emma, and Jase; several cousins, nephews, and nieces; close family friends, Ron and Sue Spike, and Dr. Glenn & Beth Fahnestock.
