Phyllis Thorne Good, formerly of Elmira, Bath, Penn Yan, Naples, Fla., Palatka, Fla., and Owings Mills, Md. passed away Wednesday, December 19, 2018, in Pikesville, MD.

No service is planned at this time. Interment will be held in the spring at Woodlawn National Cemetery, Elmira.

Phyllis was born March 23, 1924, to Ernest and Eunice (Bates) Thorne in Elmira, where she was raised. A graduate of the Elmira Business and Shorthand College, she worked in several professions before concentrating on insurance. Throughout her career, she served as Executive Assistant in several insurance agencies, including the Stork Insurance Agency of Penn Yan, and was retired from Sedgwick of Southwest Florida (formerly

BIA). She was past president of the Naples charter chapter of the American Business Women’s Association and was a lifetime member of the United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women.

A beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, community volunteer and friend, Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Adele Reese and Ernestine Thorne; a brother, W. Arthur Thorne; her husband of 43 years, Donald E. Good; and a son, Jeffrey Earl Good.

She is survived by a daughter, Jocelyn A. (Richard) Surino of Owings Mills, Md.; a son, Jonathan E. (Barbara) Good of Bozeman, Mont.; three grandsons, Michael (Lisa) Surino of Baltimore, Md., Daniel (Erin) Good of Bozeman, and Andrew (Natsumi) Good, of Reno, Nev.; four great-grandchildren, Edwin and Andrew Surino of Baltimore, and Hadley and

Brayden Good of Bozeman; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. The family would like to express thanks for the help and care provided by Sunrise of Pikesville assisted living community and Gilchrist Hospice Care. Memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
