Kathryn C. “Kay” Tietjen, 90, of Branchport died Tuesday, December 18, 2018.

Friends and family are invited to call at LaMarche Funeral Home in Hammondsport from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 19. A service will be held immediately following at the funeral home. A private burial will be held at Glenview Cemetery in Pulteney at the convenience of the family.

Kay was born Sept. 25, 1928, in the Town of Jerusalem, the daughter of Fred and Virginia Martin. She graduated from Hammondsport Central School in 1947. On April 15, 1950, she married Norman “Zeke” Clark, who passed away May 2, 1964. On Sept. 23, 1966, she married Mike Tietjen, Sr. who passed away Aug. 18, 2003. She was also predeceased by her sister, Molly Tyler.

Kay worked as a Secretary in the Hammondsport Central School District in several offices for many years. She was a 71-year member of the Vine City Order of the Eastern Star in Hammondsport. She was a member of the Pulteney Presbyterian Church Prayer Shawl ministry and a charter member of the Pulteney Ladies Auxiliary “Smokey Belles.” She was known by all for her impeccable style and penmanship. Kay thoroughly enjoyed sewing, baking, and meticulously maintaining her home, as well as, the three cottages her and Mike Sr. built together. Most of all, her love of Keuka Lake and the view of the lake from her front porch.

She is loved and will be dearly missed by her five children, Carolyn (Carl) Schuler of Higganum, Conn., David (Carmen Ball) Clark of Hammondsport, Susan Smith of Big Flats, Pam (Kevin) Fingar of Branchport, and Mike (Michelle Socha) Tietjen, Jr. of Branchport; four grandchildren, Matthew Smith of Loudon, N.H., Barbara (Dee’on) Bellamy of Longs, S.C., Meghan and Benjamin Fingar of Branchport; three great-grandchildren, Dee’on, Taylor and Dylan Bellamy all of Longs, S.C., along with numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Pulteney Presbyterian Church and Modeste Bedient Memorial Library in Branchport.
