Robert G. Webster, 87, of Penn Yan, died unexpectedly on Thursday January 17, 2019 at Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hospital, Penn Yan.

Family and friends are invited to calling hours from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 22, at the Baird Funeral Home, 36 Water St., Dundee. His funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 23 with a reception after at the Milo Center United Methodist Church, with Pastor Kimberly Lyons officiating. Burial was private in Hillside Cemetery, Dundee.

Robert was born May 2, 1931 in the town of Milo, one of five sons of the late Howard Eugene and Olive Christine Morley Webster. He graduated from Dundee Central School in 1950. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. On April 2, 1955 in Binghamton, he married the former Rose Kohlage.

A lifelong area resident, he was a farmer as a boy, and after the Navy he worked as a Yates County Deputy Sheriff from 1960 – 1973. After 13 years with the Sheriff’s Department he accepted a position as a security guard for Eastman Kodak in Rochester, retiring in 1989. After retirement he worked for K-Ventures in Penn Yan.

Mr. Webster was a loyal member of the Milo Center United Methodist Church. He was also an Honorary member of the Penn Yan Fire Department.

He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Rose; foster son, William “Bill” Lyman of Ovid, and Bill’s two sons, Robert and Adam; two sisters, Nancy Fullagar of Billerica, Mass., and Carol (Charles) Leach of Penn Yan; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his four brothers, Donald, Kenneth, Jack and Dick Webster.
