Harold “Smitty” Smith, 91, passed away peacefully November 6, 2019 at Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hospital in Penn Yan where he resided for the last 16 years.
Harold retired from Taylor Wine Company in Hammondsport. He was an avid outdoors-man who enjoyed hunting, fishing, hiking, the wilderness in general and cutting firewood. He was a loving husband, father, stepfather and grandfather. Harold was a happy, joyful soul who also enjoyed reading and writing poetry and dancing.
Harold was predeceased by his parents; all siblings; a son, Rodney Smith; daughter, Linda (Harry) Cohn; son, Ernest Smith; grandson, Ernest Smith II; and grandson, Christopher Smith.
Harold is survived by his wife of 36 years, Nancy Smith of Penn Yan; his stepchildren; Lora Riffle of Geneva; Nadine Catlin of Penn Yan; Mitchell LaBarr of Hall; his children, son, David (Judy) Smith of Greenville, Tenn.; daughter, Cheryl (Dan) Devine of Ocala, Fla.; daughter, Ellen (Greg) Crans of Clarkrange, Tenn.; daughter, Rhonda (Jeff) Waters of Brooksville, Fla.; son, Ivan Smith of Campbell; several grandchildren, great- grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
