Calling hours will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Jan. 17 followed by funeral at 2 p.m. at St. James’ Episcopal Church in Hammondsport. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the Wayne and Hammondsport Volunteer Fire Departments in tribute of Jeff.
He was born December 26, 1959 to Maynard and Jane Kerrick in Penn Yan. He grew up with a close relationship to his siblings and friends in Benton Center. He worked doing construction, cabinet making, and many other types of general contracting in Rochester for 30 years. Jeff met the love of his life, DonnaSue, and they married in 2000. In recent years he enjoyed a fulfilling career in maintenance at Soldiers & Sailors Hospital in Penn Yan, and he worked hard on he and DonnaSue’s beef cattle farm.
He greatly enjoyed time with his family, especially the grandkids who he was always playing on the floor with or sneaking candy to. In the summertime, Jeff was passionate about playing golf, particularly with his sons, Jesse and Tim. In March 2019, Jeff suffered a spinal cord injury and valiantly faced the many difficulties stemming from it, but ultimately the complications took his life. It never ceased to amaze any visitors that Jeff faced everyday with his same, upbeat attitude, smile on his face, Faith in the Lord
and usually a few jokes too.
Jeff is predeceased by his parents, Maynard and Jane (Ray), and sister Trina.
He is survived by his dedicated wife, DonnaSue; children, Jesse, Tim, Jake (Hilary) and Mary (Adam); grandchildren: Adelaide, Charlie, Jack, Caroline, and Julia; siblings, Barry (Rose), Donna (Donnie), Bob (Heidi), Maynard (Patty), Lori (Mark), Debbie, Kelly (Reed); half-siblings: Angela, Kevin (Ericka), and Sarah (Justin).
