Clifton Springs — Ronald McMaster, formerly of Penn Yan, died April 25, 2020 in Clifton Springs at the age of 89.

Ron grew up on a farm overlooking Keuka Lake, the son of Paul and Mildred McMaster. He was a 1949 graduate of Penn Yan Academy. Ron and his family moved to Rochester in 1960, where he began a long career at E.I.DuPont. He earned a degree in mechanical engineering from RIT while raising two sons and working full-time. He supervised maintenance and construction projects at DuPont.

Ron loved to fish in his spare time. He also travelled extensively with his wife, Joan, once they were empty-nesters. After Joan’s passing in 2011, Ron moved to Ashton Place in Clifton Springs in 2015. There he had many friends, particularly his constant, loving companion, Ruth Smithoover.

Ron’s highest priority was always the well-being of his family and friends. He was a wonderful son, husband, father, and companion.

Ron is survived by sons, Donald McMaster (Ray Spear) and Steven (Joanne) McMaster; grandchildren, Geoffrey and Colleen McMaster; and Ruth Smithoover.
