Penn Yan - Peter F. Jackson, age 82, passed away at Tidewell Hospice in Venice, FL July 5, 2021.

Peter was born April 3, 1939 in Theresa, NY, the son of Leslie and Dorothy Jackson. He grew up in Evans Mills, NY. After high school graduation, he worked in a machine shop in Watertown, NY and later graduated from Cornell University in 1963. After graduation, he was a county agent in Genesee County, NY. Over the years he owned several local businesses including vineyards and Dudley Poultry Company. In addition, he served his community as a member of the Penn Yan First Presbyterian Church where he was a deacon, trustee and elder. He was on the Board of Directors of the Farm Credit Association, President of the NYS Wine Grape Growers Association and on the Advisory Board of the Security Trust Bank. He also served on the Milo Town Board as a Councilman, was a Milo Town Supervisor and was on the Yates County Legislature.

Peter enjoyed flying an airplane, sailing, golf and travel. He is survived by his wonderful family; his wife of 62 years, Linda (Schlappi); his daughters, Idelle (Scott) Dillon, Teresa Jackson (Mark Neal) and Cheryl (Erik) Carruth; his son Aaron Jackson (Glenn Coleman); grandchildren, Kyle Detwiler, Mark (Jeannette) Detwiler, David Strickland (Larissa Osterbaan), Derek Strickland (Julie Marello), Rachel Dillon and great grandson, Jack Detwiler.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Penn Yan Elks Lodge #1722, August 14, 2-6. A private burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
