Richard P. Alford

Penn Yan - Richard P. Alford, 84, passed away peacefully on Wednesday March 30, 2022 with his loving wife and best friend of 63 years, Glenda at his side. Dick was born to Paul and Dorothy Alford on September 12th 1937. He was predeceased by both his parents and his in-laws Roy Harris and Anna Harris Alford.

Dick was a proud graduate of Penn Yan Academy and Morrisville State College. He worked for the Village of Penn Yan, was a Volunteer Fireman Hydrant Hose Company, a Yates County Sheriff and a Security Guard at Eastman Kodak for 23 years. After retirement from Kodak in 1989, he spent many years serving the community as a Yates County Court Officer. Dick loved his family deeply. He also loved camping, hunting, snowmobiling and playing poker and cribbage with his family and friends both in Penn Yan and at his Clearwater winter home, Ranch Mobile. Dick was honored to be both a lifelong Mason and an Elk. He was past Exalted Ruler of the Elks Lodge #1722 and past New York State Vice President, an accomplishment of which he was extremely proud of.

Dick is survived by his wife Glenda, Brother Thomas Alford, Brother in-law William R Harris, daughter Linda(Michael) Lyding, son Don (Joe Marino) Alford, and daughter Vicki (Jeff) Matthews, Granddaughter Wendy Hallenbeck, Grandsons Christopher (Angie) Matthews, Michael (Keiffer Jensen) Matthews. Dick had the blessings and laughter from four beautiful great grandchildren who loved their Great Papa, Adysen, Jaelyn, Alex and Leah. Several nieces and nephews as well as friends in Penn Yan and Florida.

Private services and internment will be at the family's convenience.

The family wishes to thank the Penn Yan Ambulance Corps and the Doctors and Nurses at Geneva General for their precious care. If you wish to remember Dick, please donate in his memory to Yates County Humane Society, Penn Yan Fire Department or the Elks Lodge #1722.
