Robert Harry McGregor, age 86, of Dundee, NY passed away peacefully on Monday, May 30, 2022.

Bob was born in Detroit, Michigan on April 26, 1936, the son of the late John McGregor and Sadie Hunter McGregor. He served in the US Navy from 1954-1958. Afterwards he attended Michigan Tech and UCLA. Bob was a physicist at Eastman Kodak from 1963-1985. Simultaneously, he and his wife started McGregor Vineyard, a vineyard and winery overlooking Keuka Lake.

Bob is survived by his wife of 61 years, Margaret K. McGregor, daughters Laura K. Heavner (Dave), Anne C. Sheehan (Doug), Sandy L. McGregor (Art Reisman), and son John M. McGregor (Drury). He is also survived by his grandchildren Matt (Allie), Lindsey (Brennan), Dakota, Will, and Finn.

Bob was a kind, brilliant, and humble person. His pioneering efforts in the vineyard and in crafting wine served as a cornerstone helping the Finger Lakes become known as one of the premier grape and wine regions of the world.

There will be no calling hours nor service. Those wishing to remember Bob are invited to make a donation in lieu of flowers to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research. Memories of Bob may be sent to his family at McGregor Vineyard, 5503 Dutch Street, Dundee, NY 14837.
