Age 92, of Lincoln Ave., Penn Yan, NY departed this life and entered into eternal rest on Thursday, June 30, 2022 at Newark-Wayne Hospital.
Friends may call at Weldon Funeral Home, 102 E. Main St., Penn Yan, on Sunday, July 10 from 1-2pm; followed by a funeral service at 2pm; officiating services will be Bishop Dr. Russell Willemsen, Senior Pastor at Flink Creek Church of God; private burial at Lakeview Cemetery.
Ms. Moore was born on October 20, 1929 in Warrenton, Virginia, the daughter of the late Golden and Salley (Gaskin) Essex.
She did many cleaning jobs. Her last job was at Soldiers & Sailors Hospital for 33 ½ years, before retiring. She loved working at the hospital.
Eliza was a wonderful mother, grandmother and friend who loved shopping and spending time with her family. She also enjoyed listening and dancing to music. Eliza was a member of the Penn Yan First Baptist Church for many years.
She is survived by her granddaughters, Connie Glover of Penn Yan, Susan “Nikki” Lofton of Geneva; 8 great-grandchildren, 7 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends. She was predeceased in death by her parents, Golden and Sally Essex; children, Joyce Moore Carter and Nancy Moore Hunt; grandsons John Paul Hunt; 2 brothers, Lawrence and Turner Essex; and 2 sisters, Rosie Cropp and Mary Cropp.
Memorial donations in her memory may be made to the Community Cafe, c/o “Penn Yan United Methodist Church”, 166 Main Street, Penn Yan, NY 14527.
