The Penn Yan Mustang softball team won their third game in a row April 28 in Penn Yan, but thei winning streak ended April 30.

Penn Yan’s winning streak came to end April 30 in Seneca Falls. Mynderse Academy, the top team in the Finger Lakes East, defeated the visiting Mustangs 16-1. Melanie Gleason once again led the Mustang hitters with 2 base hits. Penn Yan’s overall record now stands at 3-10. They are 3-6 in FL East action.

Penn Yan 10 Newark 9

Penn Yan scored a run in the bottom of the 7th inning on a passed ball to pull out an exciting 10-9 win over Newark in a Finger Lakes East contest April 28. The win was Penn Yan’s 3rd league win a row and improved their record to 3-5. Melanie Gleason was the hitting star for the Orange and Blue, collecting 4 hits including a double. Erika Cooper also had 2 hits and a double. Lizzy Lafferty drove in runs.


The Dundee Scots softball team suffered three shutout wins last week. On april 25, Dundee lost to Bloomfield 10-0. They were no-hit by the Bombers in this contest. On April 28 the Red Jacket Indian softball team defeated Dundee twice. Red Jacket won the first game 11-0 and took the nightcap 8-0. Madison Neu collected 2 hits for Dundee. The Scots slip to 1-10 with the losses.

Marcus Whitman

Last week proved to be an unproductive 7 days for the Marcus Whitman Wildcat softball team. On Monday they were shutout at home by Naples 18-0. Madison Herendeen had 2 hits for MW. Thursday afternoon in Gorham, HAC downed the hometown Wildcats 22-4. Madi Herendeen collected 3 hits in this contest for Whitman. They ended the week by playing in the Midlakes Invitational Tournament in Phelps. Midlakes defeated the Wildcats 11-0 in their first game. Katie Meyer had 2 hits for Whitman. Lyons defeated Marcus Whitman 14-6 in the consolation game. Madi Herendeen had 2 base knocks in the contest. Marcus Whitman falls to 0-13 with the losses.
