The Penn Yan Mustang girl's soccer broke a 10 game winless streak at home Oct. 9 by shutting out Geneva 3-0 in a non-league tilt. Sydney Gifford scored just before the half to get the Orange and Blue on the board. Triana Burgos Faran and Emily Fingar scored second half goals. Cassie Lafler and Sydney Gifford dished out assists also. Melanie Gleason recorded 2 saves to pick up her first shutout win of the year.

Pal-Mac 6 Penn Yan 0

On Oct. 12, the Mustang girl's soccer team traveled to Palmyra to take on Pal-Mac. The red Raider shutout Penn Yan 6-0 in this contest. Melanie Gleason stopped 17 shots for Penn Yan in this game.

Penn Yan 1 Odessa-Montour

On Oct. 14 in Odessa, Penn Yan earned a 1-1 tie against Odessa-Montour to break a nine game losing streak.

Dundee 2 Romulus 1

The Dundee girl's soccer team picked up their first win of the year defeating Romulus 2-1. Xavia Miller and Emily Oughterson scored the Dundee goals. Andi Wood had 15 saves in this game for the Scots.

Naples 6 Dundee 0

Earlier in the week, Naples shutout Dundee 6-0 in Naples. Andi Wood had 15 saves in this game. Dundee's season record stands at 1-13-1.

Midlakes 2 Marcus Whitman 1

The Marcus Whitman girl's soccer team lost two closely fought games last week. On Oct. 11 at home, Midlakes defeated Whitman 2-1. Emily Thompson scored the Wildcat goal and Nichaela Commisso picked up an assist. Katrina Meyer had 8 saves in goal for Marcus Whitman.

Waterloo 4 Marcus Whitman 3

Waterloo defeated Whitman 4-3 in Gorham Oct. 12. Nichaela Commisso scored 2 goals for the Wildcats while Emily Thompson picked up the other Wildcat goal. Katrina Meyer recorded 11 saves in the nets for Whitman.

Newark 1 Penn Yan 0 OT

The Penn Yan Mustang boy's soccer team dropped a tough 1-0 decision to Newark in Penn Yan Oct. 11. Newark scored the lone goal of the game in the first overtime period. Jackson Arnold made 2 saves in goal for Penn Yan.

Mynderse 1 Penn Yan 0

Oct. 13 in Seneca Falls, Penn Yan was shutout by Mynderse 1-0 in a Finger Lakes East contest. Jackson Arnold had 5 saves in this game for Penn Yan. The Mustangs are 7-9 overall and 5-7 in league play with the regular season winding down.

Dundee 2 Newfield 1

The Dundee boy's soccer team defeated Newfield 2-1 Oct. 11 in Dundee. Bobby Strait and William Hall notched the Scotsmen goals. Strait also dished out an assist as did Cam Howell.

South Seneca 8 Dundee 1

On Oct. 12 in Dundee, South Seneca defeated Dundee 8-1. The visitors held a slim 3-1 lead at the half but pulled away in the second half. Brandon Edmister scored the Dundee goal. Bobby Strait added an assist.

Marcus Whitman 2 Midlakes 1 OT

The Marcus Whitman boy's soccer team defeated Midlakes 2-1 Oct. 12 in Gorham. It was their second Finger Lakes West win of the year. Dominick Morey scored both Wildcat goals. His second goal was the game winner in the second, sudden death overtime period. Tim Cornish added an assist. He also recorded 3 saves in goal for Whitman. Zach Payne added 4 saves during his time in the Wildcat nets.

HAC 2 Marcus Whitman 0

In Brighton Oct. 13, HAC shutout Marcus Whitman 2-0 in a Finger Lakes West contest. Tim Cornish recorded 16 saves in this game. Whitman is 4-10-2 overall and 2-9-1 in FL West action.

Volleyball

Waterloo 3 Penn Yan 0

The Penn Yan Mustang girl's volleyball team was shutout 3-0 by Waterloo Oct. 11 in Penn Yan. Emily Wunder led the Orange and Blue efforts with 12 kills, 11 digs, and 1 block. Brenna Voigt added 14 assists and 10 digs while Sydney Bloom chipped in 12 digs and 4 kills. The Mustang girls are 6-7 this season.
