The Penn Yan Mustang boy's lacrosse team opened the Section V Class D tournament with a convincing 16-0 victory over Mynderse Wednesday afternoon in Penn Yan. Penn Yan, the defending Section V Class C champion, has moved to Class D this year. They are the #2 seed with Gananda rated #1. The Mustangs advance to the Class D semifinals Saturday against # 3 Bath. The contest is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. at Waterloo High School.

Penn Yan dominated the game against Mynderse. The Orange and Blue scored 10 goals in the first half and 6 goals in the second half. The Mustang defense kept Mynderse off the board, limiting the Blue Devils to just 2 shots.

Austin Blumbergs and Ben Emerson paced the Mustang attack with 5 goals and 1 assist each. Dylan Stape added 3 goals and 1 assist. Rounding out the Mustang scoring ledger was Will Rogers (1 goal/1 assist), Jared Calice (1 goal /1 assist), Chase Blumbergs (1 goal), and Conner Fingar (5 assists). Jeff Kinyoun and Kyle Welker registered 1 save each in goal for Penn Yan. the victory improved Penn Yan's season mark to 8-9.
