The Penn Yan Mustang boy’s golf team finished their regular season on a high note. The Orange and Blue golfers defeated Newark 240-256 Oct. 4 at Lakeside Country Club. Max Brodmann was Penn Yan’s top scorer and match medalist, shooting a 44. Clay Koivunemi carded a 48 for Penn Yan also. The Mustangs finish their regular season with a 6-8 record.

The Penn Yan Mustang boy’s golf team dropped a 238-256 decision to Wayne in Penn Yan Oct. 2. Clay Koivuniemi shot a 48 to lead the Orange and Blue linksters. Max Brodmann carded a 49.


Penn Yan 3 Hammondsport 1

The Penn Yan Mustang volleyball team scored a 3-1 non-league win over Hammondsport Oct. 4 in Hammondsport. The Mustang girls rallied to take the contest after Hammondsport picked a victory in game #2. Emily Wunder had 23 kills, 7 assists, 19 digs, and 2 blocks to pace the Orange and Blue win. Sydney Bloom chipped in 7 kills, 22 assists, and 7 digs. Elissa Callaway also added 3 kills and 11 digs.

Penn Yan 3 Pal-Mac 0

The Penn Yan Mustang girl’s volleyball team continue to dominate the net. The Orange and Blue Spikers shutout Pal-Mac 3-0 Oct. 3 afternoon to improve their overall record to 9-2. The Mustang girls are 5-2 in Finger Lakes East League action.

Emily Wunder continued to pace the red hot Mustang team. She recorded 18 kills, 16 assists, 21 digs, 3 blocks and 3 aces in Tuesday’s Penn Yan win. Teammate Sydney Bloom added 10 kills, 17 assists, 13 digs, and 2 aces. Caitlin Wunder chipped in 7 kills while Akiya brewer added 14 digs.

HAC 3 Dundee 0

The Dundee Scots girls volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision to HAC in Rochester Oct. 4. Elizabeth Medina recorded a kill for Dundee. MaKenzie Cratsley added a dig and a kill. Alyssa Newell had a service ace.

The Penn Yan Mustang girl’s soccer team dropped two games last week in Finger Lakes East action. In Penn Yan Oct. 4, the Mustangs were shut out by Waterloo 1-0. The Indians broke up a scoreless game with a late second half goal. Melanie Gleason recorded 4 saves in the nets for Penn Yan.

The Dundee Scot girl’s soccer team was shut out 2-0 by Red Jacket in Dundee Oct. 3. Karyanna Rutledge recorded 15 saves in goal for the Scots.

Honeoye 4 Dundee 0

The Dundee Scots girl’s soccer team was shut out by Honeoye 4-0 in Honeoye last week. Karyanna Rutledge played well in the nets for Dundee, recording 14 saves.

Marcus Whitman 7 South Seneca 0

Marcus Whitman blanked Bloomfield 7-0 Oct. 7. Emily Thompson and Nichaela Commisso scored 2 goals each for Whitman. Jami Colf, Grace Blankenberg, and Athena Saxton also scored goals for the Wildcats. Charlotte Alvord, Ari Beverly, and Ellie Nemitz added assists. Katrina Meyer had 4 saves and Makayla Selvek had 1 saves for Whitman in goal.

Marcus Whitman defeated South Seneca 3-1 Oct. 4. Nichaela Commisso, Jamie Colf, and Emily Thompson scored the Wildcat goals in the first half. Thompson and Katrina Martin added assists. Katrina Meyer and Makayla Selvek recorded 7 and 1 saves respectively in goal for Whitman.

The Marcus Whitman Wildcat girl’s soccer team shut out Romulus 6-0 in Finger Lakes West action in Romulus Oct. 3. Nichaela Commisso scored 4 goals and dished out an assist for the winning Wildcats. Jamie Colf scored the other Whitman goal. Emily Thompson had 3 assists for Whitman. Katrina Meyer and Makayla Selvek shared time the Wildcat nets recorded 2 saves and 4 saves respectively.

The Penn Yan Mustang boy’s soccer team hosted Pal-Mac Oct. 3 at Mustang Field. In this Finger Lakes East showdown, the visiting Pal-Mac Red Raiders walked off with a 4-0 victory over the hometown Mustangs. Austin Lafferty recorded 12 saves in goal for the Mustangs.
