In a battle between two local high school bowling powers, the Marcus Whitman Wildcats made a strong statement. The Wildcats faced off against the Penn Yan Mustang boys at Roseland Bowl in Canandaigua Dec. 19 and ended the afternoon with a decisive 4-0 victory over the Orange and Blue. The 4-0 sweep improved Whitman’s season mark to 27-1. Penn Yan falls to 19-9.
The Wildcats outscored the Mustangs by 460 total pins, 2,912 to 2,452 and swept the three games en route to the big win. Dominick Mangiarelli rolled a game-high 278 and a 611 series. Zach Payne contributed a 607 (215-181-211) while Parker Smith rolled a 597 (199-197-203). Logan Sieber added a 590 (204-201-185). Zach Gurba was Penn Yan’s top bowler rolling a 542 (190-222). Jon Mashewske added a 518 (173-196) and Cameron Bassage chipped in a 501 (172-172).
Earlier in the week, Marcus Whitman also shutout Naples 4-0 in Canandaigua. The Wildcats out-bowled the Big Green 2,426-1,772 in that match. Parker Smith topped the Whitman scoring sheet with a 514 series (171-174-169). Dominick Mangiarelli bowled games of 165, 165, and 175. Josh LaBarr contributed a 503 series (193).

The Penn Yan Mustang girl’s bowling team extended their winning streak Dec. 19 at Roseland Bowl in Canandaigua with a strong 4-0 victory over Marcus Whitman. The winning pin count for the Mustang girls in this contest was 2,259 to 1,764. Emily Augustine bowled a 542 series while Kari Ayers chipped in a 541. Ayers also recorded the highest game score with a 213. Emilie Thomas added a 435 ( 174). Zoelle Payne was Whitman’s top bowler, rolling a 488 series (179-191). Penn Yan improves their record to 24-4 with the shutout win over the Wildcats.

Earlier in the week, Naples defeated Marcus Whitman 3-1 in Finger Lakes West girl’s bowling action at Roseland Bowl. Naples registered 1,882 total pins to Whitman’s 1,832 to narrowly pull out the win. The Whitman girls picked up a win in the first game. Zoelle Payne once again was Marcus Whitman’s top bowler rolling a 485 (184-173).
Dundee Boys 4 Naples 0
The Dundee Scotsmen boy’s bowling team improved their record to 22-6 with a 4-0 win over Naples at Roseland Bowl in Canandaigua Dec. 20. The Scots are battling Bloomfield for the top spot in the Finger Lakes West. The win over Naples keeps Dundee in a strong position for first place in the league. Dundee piled up 2,372 total pins in Wednesday’s match. Naples recorded only 1,440. Hunter Murphy led the way for Dundee with a 519 series (197). Stephan Smith added a 198 game while Lucas Bowden chipped n games of 189 and 181.

In the girl’s contest, Naples shutout Dundee 4-0. The Big Green recorded 2,004 pins to Dundee’s 1,637. For Dundee, Isabele Heavener-Roy rolled a 137 game. Mercedez Roy bowled a 366 series.
