Two of the top boy’s high school bowling teams in the Finger Lakes faced off in a key non-league showdown in Penn Yan Jan. 18. The Marcus Whitman Wildcats, the top team in the Finger Lakes East and the Dundee Scots of the Finger Lakes West met to prove who is best.

The Wildcats from Whitman emerged from the contest with a hard-fought 3-1 win over the battling Scotsmen. A total of 10 bowlers from both teams scored games of over 200. Dundee opened the match with a 2-pin win in game number one. But Marcus Whitman rallied to take the next two games and posted the best-aggregated total of 2,809 pins to Dundee’s 2,605. Whitman improved their season mark to 54-2 with the victory. Dundee now stands at 43-16-1.

Dominick Mangaiarelli led the Wildcat charge with a 625 series (211). Zach Payne added a 586 (205-202) while Parker Smith chipped in single games of 208 and 213. Stephan Smith rolled a 553 series (202) to top the Dundee scoring sheet. Collin Goodman added a 218, Jared Hartman a 210, and Lucas Bowden a 201 game.

Dundee Girls 3 Marcus Whitman 1

In the girl’s contest, Dundee defeated Marcus Whitman 3-1. The Dundee girls picked up 1,892 total pins to Whitman’s 1,870. Mercedez Roy rolled a 431 series (161) to lead the Scots. Edele Morgan added a 424 series (154). Dundee evened their record at 30-30 with the victory.

South Seneca 61 Dundee 54

The South Seneca Falcons defeated Dundee 61-54 in a closely contested Finger Lakes West League game played in Dundee Jan. 18. The loss dropped the Scotsmen’s league record to 1-8. They are 3-8 overall as the regular season heads toward its conclusion.

Preston Cratsley topped the Dundee scorers with 12 points. Austin Brace and Austin Gibson contributed 11 points each to the Dundee scoring numbers.

The Dundee Scots wrestling team evened their Finger Lakes West League record to 2-2 with a 44-22 victory over Lyons Jan. 17. Dundee’s overall record stands at 5-19.

In contested matches, Dundee ‘s Steven Ameigh (132 lbs.) and Leif Hoyt scored wins by fall in this match. Dundee also picked up 5 wins by forfeit . Jaden Ault (113 lbs.), Paul Knapp (120 lbs.), Sutton Lane (138 lbs.), Ethan Rexford (182 lbs.), and Tate Hoyt (220 lbs.).
