The Penn Yan Mustang girl’s lacrosse team opened their 2018 season on a winning note. The Orange and Blue girl’s lacrosse squad defeated Geneva 14-8 March 29 at the newly renovated Loman Field in Geneva. It was the Geneva team’s first game played on the new field turf at Loman Field. The visiting Penn Yan squad fell behind 1-0 early but rallied to grab a 7-2 lead at the half. The Mustang girl’s outscored their host 7-6 in the second to pull away to the 14-8 win.
Penn Yan senior Sydney Bloom tallied the first 2 goals of the new season for Penn Yan. She ended the afternoon with 3 goals. Penn Yan’s All-League senior Hannah Keech led the Mustangs on the score sheet with 5 goals. Elissa Callaway added 2 goals. Logan Broome also played very well offensively for the Orange and Blue. Alexandra Cox picked up the win in goal for the Mustang girls. (1-0).
Penn Yan will back in action Saturday at home with a game against Mynderse-Romulus.
