The Penn Yan Mustang, Dundee Scot, and Marcus Whitman Wildcat track and field teams competed in the five-team Marcus Whitman Meet April 13 in Gorham. Besides the three local high school teams, Williamson and Midlakes also participated.

In the boy’s competition, host Marcus Whitman captured first place with 90.5 team points. Dundee 87, Midlakes 63.25, Penn Yan 56, and Williamson 54.25 completed the field.

For the Whitman Wildcats, Liam Prendergast won the 1600M, Bryan Best came in first in the 400 hurdles, and Josh LaBarr captured the shot put event. The Wildcat 4 x 400 and 4 x 800 relay teams also came in first place.

For the Dundee Scots boy’s team, Julian Ortiz won the high jump event, Sam Richards the pole vault, and Leif Hoyt the discus. Also for the Scots, their 4 x 100 relay team of Preston Cratsley, Austin Brace, Nicholas Larson, and William Hall came in first place in that event. For the Penn Yan Mustangs, Ben DeMoras captured first place finishes in the 400m and 800m.

In the girl’s meet, Midlakes came in first place with 105 points. Penn Yan finished in 2nd place with 87 points, Williamson 3rd with 73 points, Marcus Whitman 4th with 60 points, and Dundee 5th with 28 points.

For Penn Yan, Joddie Decker won the 1500m and 3000m events. Maci Nicholson came in first in the 400 hurdles and Emma Harling first in the shot put. The Mustang 4 x 88m relay team of Maci Nicholson, Mary Ingram, Joddie Decker, and Samantha D’Arpino captured a first place finish. For Marcus Whitman, Hailey Rossi won the 100m and 800m events while teammate Grace Blankenberg won the discus. Dundee’s Lily Hall was a double winner in the high jump and triple jump events.
