The Penn Yan Mustang baseball team registered their 4th straight Finger Lakes East League win April 23 in Penn Yan. After falling behind 8-3 early in the contest, the Orange and Blue nine staged a remarkable comeback. They scored 6 unanswered runs to pull out a 9-8 victory. Senior Greg Hoke picked up the win on the mound hurling 5 innings in relief. Derrick Riviello collected 3 hits to lead the Mustang comeback charge. Peyton Schuck drove in 3 runs.
Penn Yan upped their Finger Lakes East League record to 4-0 with the win. They are 6-2 overall.
Mustang girls down Pal-Mac 24 - 14 in softball slugfest
The Penn Yan Mustang softball team gave up 10 runs in the first three innings. But fortunately for the Penn Yan girls, their offense scored 17 runs. Penn Yan grabbed a 17-10 lead after 3 innings and strolled to a 24-14 win over Pal-Mac in Penn Yan April 23.
Kayla Anderson was the winning pitcher for Penn Yan. She recorded 8 strikeouts to gain the victory. Serina Sheridan had a big afternoon at the plate. She went 4-for-6 and socked a huge 3-run homer to pace the Mustang offense. Sheridan drove in 5 runs for the Orange and Blue. Hannah Yonts picked up 3 hits in 4 tries also for Penn Yan.
Marcus Whitman 11 Dundee 8
The Marcus Whitman Wildcat softball team defeated Dundee 11-8 in Dundee Monday afternoon. Alyn Watts went 3-for-4 for Whitman. Katrina Meyer also had a 2-for-4 day at the plate. Amber LeMay was the winning pitcher for the Wildcat girls. For Dundee, Hailee Empson went 2-for-3 while teammates Bri Maloy and McKenzie Strait picked up 2 hits each.
Marcus Whitman improves to 1-2 in the Finger Lakes West. They are 2-2 overall. Dundee falls to 0-2 in the league and 0-2 overall.
