The Penn Yan Mustang baseball team dropped their first Finger Lakes East League contest April 26 in Ontario Center. The Mustangs fell to the hometown Wayne Eagles 12-7. The loss dropped Penn Yan’s league record to 4-1. They are 6-3 overall.

Noah Detar paced the Mustang offense with two doubles. Brennan Prather and Donny McMahon also collected two hits for the Orange and Blue.

Naples 17 Dundee 1

The Dundee Scots baseball team was defeated by Naples 17-1 in a Finger Lakes West game played April 24. Logan Thompson went 2-for-2 for the Scotsmen. Kyle Cratsley also collected a hit for Dundee.


Wayne 13 Penn Yan 12 (9 Innings)

The Penn Yan Mustang softball team dropped a tough 13-12 decision to Wayne in Ontario Center April 25. The hometown Eagles pushed across the winning run in the bottom half of the 9th inning. The Penn Yan girls had quickly jumped out to a 6-3 lead after one inning and led 8-6 after 3 innings. Wayne pulled ahead before Penn Yan tied the game at 12-12 in the 6th inning. The loss dropped Penn Yan’s Finger Lakes League record to 4-3. They are 4-5 overall.

Serinia Sheridan went 3-or-5 including a homerun to lead the Penn Yan attack. Taylor Height added 2 hits including a double. She drove in 2 runs. Hannah Yonts also delivered a double for the Mustangs.

Marcus Whitman 10 HAC 6

The Marcus Whitman Wildcat softball team defeated HAC 10-7 in a Finger Lakes West League game played in Gorham April 25. The Wildcat girls scored 4 runs in the 5th inning and added 3 more in the 6th inning to seal the victory. Whitman improves to 2-2 in league play. They are 3-2 overall.

Amber LeMay picked up the win limiting HAC to just 6 hits. She struck out 11 and walked 4. Katrina Meyer went 2-for-3 with a double and an rbi. She also scored 2 runs. Alieya Hurlbert also had 2 hits and scored 2 runs for Whitman.
