Penn Yan 16 Gananda 6

The Penn Yan Mustang girl’s lacrosse team scored a 16-6 victory over Gananda in Penn Yan May 7. The Orange and Blue girls quickly jumped out to an 11-3 lead in the first half and cruised to the 10-point win in the second half. The Mustang girls are 9-3 overall and 5-2 in Finger Lakes League action.

Topping the Penn Yan scoring ledger was Hannah Keech with 5 goals and an assist. Rounding out the Penn Yan scoring was Elissa Callaway (4 goals/2 assists), Sydney Bloom (3 goals/3 assists), Sydney Holse (1 goal), Grace Ledgerwood (1 goal), Allison Winslow (1 goal /1 assist) and Alli Olevnik (2 assists). Alex Cox recorded 8 saves in goal for Penn Yan.

Pal-Mac 21 Marcus Whitman 8

The Pal-Mac Red Raiders defeated Marcus Whitman 21-8 in a Finger Lakes League girl’s lacrosse contest played in Gorham on Monday afternoon. Emily Thompson led the Wildcat girls in scoring with 5 goals and an assist. Charlotte Alvord, Emily Paddock, and Ellie Nemitz also picked up goals for Whitman. Allyssa Chase had 7 save in the nets for Whitman.


Dundee 4 Honeoye 3

The Dundee Scot softball team extended in winning streak to 3 with a doubleheader sweep of Honeoye in Dundee. The hometown Scot girls won the opener 4-3 and came back to win the nightcap.

In in the first game, Mercedez Roy and Alyssa Newell both collected hits to lead the Dundee crew to victory.

Dundee 8 Honeoye 6

In the second game, Roy also collected 2 hits and drove in 2 runs. Megan Sutherland also went 2 for 3 and drove in 4 runs.

Naples 20 Marcus Whitman 5

Naples defeated Marcus Whitman 20-5 in a Finger Lakes West game played in Naples. Katrina Meyer led a 10 hit Whitman attack going 2 for 3 including a double.


Newark 6 Penn Yan 5

The Penn Yan Mustang baseball team dropped their second straight Finger Lakes East League contest May 9 in Newark. The hometown Reds defeated the Mustangs 6-5 at Colburn Park. The loss dropped Penn Yan Finger Lakes East League mark to 7-4. They are 9-6 overall.

Penn Yan’s Derrick Riviello tossed 6 innings and struck out 13 Newark batters. Brennan Prather led the Mustang offense with 3 hits.

Midlakes 6 Penn Yan 5

The Penn Yan Mustang baseball team traveled to Phelps to take on the Midlakes Screaming Eagles May 7. The host Midlakes team entered the game in first place in the Finger Lakes League sporting a 8-1 record. The second place Mustangs (7-2 in the league), handed Midlakes their only league loss earlier in the season. The stage was set for a first place battle. The visiting Mustangs jumped out to a 5-1 lead early, but the Eagles rallied to score 5 runs late and walk off with a 6-5 victory.

Penn Yan collected 8 hits in the contest. Derrick Riviello went 2 for 3 and drove in 3 runs. Peyton Schuck and Donny McMahon also had 2 hits each for the Mustangs (7-3, 9-5).

Honeoye 24 Dundee 0

The Dundee Scot baseball team suffered two losses in Finger Lakes West League action . On Monday afternoon in Dundee, Honeoye shutout the Scots 24-0. Honeoye’s Tyler Rudolph tossed a perfect 5 innings for the Bulldogs.

South Seneca 9 Dundee 4

South Seneca defeated Dundee 9-4 May 5. Zack Neu went 2-for-4 for the Scotsmen, including a grand slam homerun. Michael Hand also collected 2 hits for Dundee, including a double.
