Mustangs defeat Bath-Haverling 12-4 in semi-final contest
The Penn Yan Mustang boy’s lacrosse team finds themselves in a familiar position. They can pick up another Section V championship, their 23rd, on Wednesday, May 30 at St. John Fisher College. The Mustangs earned their latest trip to the finals with a convincing 12-4 win over #5 seed Bath-Haverling Saturday at Honeoye Falls-Lima High School. The Penn Yan boys will play #6 Aquinas. The Mustangs are the defending Section V Class C champions. This year the Orange and Blue will have a chance to collect their first Section V Class D title. The Penn Yan Mustangs played their first season in the newly formed Section V Class D classification this year.
In Saturday’s semi-final win, Penn Yan was led by Colton Smith’s 4-goal performance. Conner Finger added 3 goals while Austin Blumbergs and Dylan Stape contributed 2 goals each.
Ayden Mowry also accounted for a goal and 2 assists. Dylan Stape and Bryan Duran dished out assists. Jeff Kinyoun limited the Bath Rams to just 4 goals. He picked up 10 saves to help ensure the victory for the Mustang lax crew. Penn Yan’s season record improves to 12-5 with the win. Bath ends their season with a 11-7 record.
