The Penn Yan Mustang girl’s volleyball team defeated Bloomfield 3-1 in a non-league contest played in Penn Yan Sept. 20. Akiya Brewer recorded 40 digs and 3 aces for the Orange and Blue net crew. Lauren Chinski added 4 aces. Serina Sheradin also picked up 2 service aces and 25 assists for Penn Yan. Brianna Hawley had 18 digs while Caitlin Wunder contributed 20 kills, 20 digs, and 2 solo blocks to Penn Yan’s winning effort.

Earlier in the week, Pal-Mac shutout Penn Yan 4-0 in Penn Yan. Penn Yan’s season record stands at 6-2 overall.

Dundee 3 Honeoye 0

The Dundee Scots girl’s volleyball team shutout Honeoye 3-0 in Finger Lakes West action last week. MacKenzie Strait paced Dundee win with 6 aces, 3 tips, and 2 digs. Megan Sutherland added 4 assists and 1 ace while Adaline Nolan also delivered a service ace.

Campbell-Savona 3 Dundee 2

Earlier in the week on Sept. 18 Campbell-Savona defeated Dundee 3-2 in Dundee. MacKenzie Strait recorded 8 kills, 2 blocks, and 2 aces for Dundee. Megan Sutherland added 4 assists while teammate Allyssa Newell picked up 5 aces and 2 kills.

The Penn Yan Mustang boy’s soccer team dropped a 3-0 Finger Lakes East League decision to Wayne in Penn Yan Sept. 18. Mason MacKerchar recorded 13 saves in the nets for Penn Yan.

Marcus Whitman 2 Honeoye 1

The Marcus Whitman Wildcat boy’s soccer team downed the Honeoye Bulldogs 2-1 in Gorham Sept. 20.  The Wildcats picked up goals from Caleb McDonough and Zachary Lovejoy.

Penn Yan 2 Bloomfield 0

The Penn Yan Mustang girl’s soccer team ran their season record to 5-4 with a 2-0 shutout win over Bloomfield in Bloomfield Sept. 18. Brady Logan notched the initial Penn Yan goal with an assist from Sierra Harrison. Hayley Andersen tallied goal number for the Orange and Blue with a helper from Leah Moniot. Penn Yan netminder Elle Harrison picked up the shutout win recording 5 saves.

Dundee 3  Romulus 2

The Dundee Scot girl’s soccer team scored a big 3-2 win over Romulus Sept. 20 in Dundee. Claudia Lyons opened the scoring for Dundee with a goal in the first half. Romulus grabbed a 2-1 in the second half. Hallie Empson and Cheyenne Cummings scored the tying and winning goals for the Scots. Karyanna Rutledge made 9 saves.


Wayne 231 Penn Yan 254

The Penn Yan Mustang golf dropped a 231-254 decision to Wayne Sept. 20 at Ontario Country Club in Ontario Center.  Clayton Koivuniemi shot a 48 to lead the Orange and Blue. Max Brodman and Peter Nicholson came in with 49’s for the Mustangs. Nicholson birdied the 8th hole.  Kevin Smith also carded a 51 for Penn Yan.

Bloomfield 230 Penn Yan 239

On Thursday afternoon at Lakeside Country Club in Penn Yan, Bloomfield defeated Penn Yan 230-239.  Peter Nicholson and Max Brodman shot 45 and 49 respectively for Penn Yan. Peter Nicholson was the top shooter for Penn Yan coming in with a 44 including a birdie on the 3rd hole. Penn Yan’s record slips to 8-3 overall with the losses. They are 7-2 in the Finger Lakes East League.

Marcus Whitman 106 Newark 67

The Marcus Whitman Wildcat girl’s swimming team defeated Newark 106-67 in Newark last week. For Whitman, Hailey Rossi picked wins in the 200 freestyle and 100 freestyle events. Zoey Dean added wins in 100IM and 500 freestyle. Morgan Smithling came in first place in the 50 freestyle and 100 butterfly while Amy Smithling added a first-place finish in the 100 backstroke. Aubrey Bogley also finished in first place in the 100 breaststroke event. The Whitman 200m medley relay team also scored a first-place finish.
