Hoops Shoot competition results
Well, the run finally ended for Delaney Battin at Saturday’s New York State Hoop Shoot finals in Clifton Park.
In the girls ages 8-9 division, Ms. Battin started her round out of the number two slot. After the first girl made 6 of her 10, Delaney went 7 for 10 and the next two shooters also made 7 of 10, putting all 4 shooters with a single shot of the title. The one shooter was stone cold the second round and Delaney went 8 for her next 15, giving her 15 of 25 for the day. Shooter #3 then went 10 for 15 and the final shooter went 9 for 15 for a 16 of 25 score, so Delaney finishes third in the overall contest.
Young Ms. Battin at only 9-years-old thus finishes 2019 as New York State’s third best free throw shooter in the girl’s ages 8-9-year-old division. Congratulations Delaney for a job well done. Hopefully, we’ll see you back next year for a shot at winning a championship at the next level of this tournament.
Thank you to Linda LaRock and the Penn Yan Elks club for all of your support in this endeavor. The Hoop Shoot is one of the Elks Lodges’ major functions and has been for many, many years.
