Area girls soccer teams have wrapped up their regular season schedules and being sectional play this week.

The Penn Yan girls’ soccer team completed a fruitful season last week. The team finished the season with a record of 9-5-2 and earned the #3 seed in B2 going into sectionals.

Wayne 2 Penn Yan 0

The team played Wayne last Wednesday, losing 2-0. Elle Harrison had a strong game in goal, notching 13 saves.

“We had one of our most successful seasons in about 15 seasons this year...scoring over 50 goals,” said Coach Kyle Nelson.

The team will face North Rose-Wolcott at 6 p.m. Friday in Penn Yan.

Hammondsport/Bradford 7 Dundee 2

With eight goals scored between the two teams in the first half alone, Hammondsport/Bradford defeated Dundee 7 - 2 Oct. 18 in Dundee’s Senior Night game.

Dundee started the scoring off at the 1 minute mark when Cheyenne Cummings scored on a Mackenzie Strait assist. Annea Bratlie followed up 4 minutes later, also on an assist from Strait.

At the 8 minute mark, Hammondsport/Bradford began a 6 goal run, led by Hannah Hoeter and Danielle Conley who each scored 2 goals. Madison Wriight and Alivia Phenes each added a goal. Hoeter and Phenes had assists. Phenes scored the final goal of the game at the 37 minute mark in the second half.

Dundee’s Claudya Lyons had 12 saves in goal while Rorie Whitcomb had 8.

Dundee (3-10-2) played Geneseo Oct. 22 in Avon in the first round of sectional play.

Waterloo 4 Marcus Whitman 1

Emily Paddock, with an assist from Aurora Woodworth, put the Wildcats on the scoreboard at the 5 minute mark of the first half against Waterloo Oct. 17, but the next 4 goals were all Waterloo’s.

Abby Kornbau had 12 saves in goal for Marcus Whitman.

The Wildcats played Red Jacket at Penn Yan Oct. 22 in the first round of sectional action.

Marcus Whitman 6 Dundee 0

Marcus Whitman (8-6-2) scored 3 goals in each half to defeat Dundee 6-0 Oct. 16.

Emily Paddock scored 3 goals while Zoelle Payne added 2 and Natalie Cotroeno scored 1.
