The Mustangs fell in their only game last week, but Dundee won their’s and Marcus Whitman ran up three notches in the win column.
Midlakes 60 Penn Yan 45
Penn Yan fell to Midlakes 45 to 60 Dec. 13. Penn Yan’s Jenna Curbeau had a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds, Sam Lane-Tomion scored 11 points and a steal while Ashly Sisson scored 6 points and 8 rebounds. Midlakes Cara Walker scored also recorded a double-double with an impressive 31 points and 18 rebounds.
The Mustangs travel to Newark Dec. 18 and host Waterloo at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 20.
Dundee 38 South Seneca 36
Dundee won a close match against South Seneca Dec. 12, coming back from a 25 to 18 deficit at halftime and breaking a 36-36 tie in the last two minutes of the game to finish with 38 points to South Seneca’s 36. For Dundee, Mackenzie Strait scored 13 points, Hallie Knapp scored 11 points and 8 rebounds, Alexandria Wood scored 7 points with 8 rebounds and 3 steals and Makenzie Cratsley recorded 5 points, 7 rebounds and 4 steals. This was Dundee’s first win over South Seneca in at least five years.
The Scots hosted Campbell-Savona Dec. 16 and Red Jacket Dec. 17. They travel to Bloomfield Dec. 20.
Marcus Whitman 34 South Seneca 30
The Wildcats brought a 34-30 victory home from South Seneca Dec. 10. Ari Beverly had 14 points, 2 assists, and 11 rebounds. Emily Paddock added 8 points, an assist, and 2 rebounds. Maddie Ryan had 2 points and 9 rebounds.
Marcus Whitman 48 HAC 41
On Dec. 12, Marcus Whitman beat Harley-Allendale-Columbia 48 to 41. For Marcus Whitman, Maddie Ryan scored 19 points with 10 rebounds, Emily Paddock scored 16 points with 5 steals and Ari Beverly scored 8 points with 6 assists and 5 steals.
Marcus Whitman 54 Chesterson 14
Marcus Whitman soundly defeated Chesterson 54 to 14 Dec. 14. Marcus Whitman’s Maddie Ryan scored 19 points for the second time in two games with 6 rebounds and 3 blocks. Also Katie Deatherage had an impressive performance with 11 points, 5 assists and 4 steals while Emily Paddock took 8 points with 3 steals.
The Wildcats host Campbell-Savona Dec. 18 and return to the court Jan. 6.
Winning was the key word on local basketball courts last week.
Penn Yan 51 Midlakes 45
The Penn Yan Mustangs took the victory over Midlakes’ Screaming Eagles with a final score of 51-45 Dec. 13. Penn Yan’s David DeSorbo scored 11 points, Peter Nicholson scored 10 and Kyle Berna took 9. For Midlakes, Kyle McCann scored 14 points, Chris Weston took 11 and Trevor VanNostrand scored 8.
JV won 65-55 with sophomore Brigham Hansen scoring 21.
The Mustangs hosted Newark Dec. 17 and travel to Waterloo Dec. 20.
Dundee came from behind in two games last week.
Dundee 65 Honeoye 50
For Dundee Blake Machuga had a double double with 14 oints and 11 rebounds Dec. 10 at Honeoye. Logan Salvatore and Steven Webster both added 16 points for the Scots.
Dundee 69 South Seneca 66
Dundee picked up their second win in a row Dec. 12, defeating South Seneca by 3 points, dropping the Falcons to three consecutive losses. Steven Webser led the way with 16 points. Logan Salvatore added 15. Peyton Boudinot scored 7 of his 13 points in the fourth quarter.
The Scots traveled to Red Jacket Dec. 17, and don’t play again until they host Bloomfield Dec. 28.
Marcus Whitman 55 Livonia 43
Marcus Whitman beat out Livonia 55 to 43 Dec. 13. Whitman’s Hildreth took 17 points, while Larue scored 16 points and Prendergast scored 13. Royston had 4 key steals, boosting Whitman’s defense and keeping Livonia from the win.
The Wildcats traveled to Lyons Dec. 17 and host Early College Dec. 20.
