Yates County Chamber of Commerce names Jessica Bacher new President/CEO
The Yates County Chamber of Commerce announced Nov. 28 that Jessica Bacher of Penn Yan has been named the new President and CEO of the Chamber. Bacher will take over the position Monday, Dec. 4.
"I am honored and humbled to have been selected to lead as President and CEO. The Yates County Chamber of Commerce is vital to our community. We play a fundamental role in providing services to our membership while serving as a leader to collaborate on key challenges for our county, local businesses, and tourism," commented Bacher, adding, "I am looking forward to working closely with our board, team members, and volunteers of this wonderful organization. I am confident that we will continue to help shape a positive future for our community. "
Kathy Waye, Chair of the Chamber's Board of Directors commented, "I would like to thank the search committee for their diligence and hard work in choosing a new President/CEO who will lead our Chamber into the future. Jessica's prior work experience, her capability to lead and enthusiasm make her an excellent choice. The board, as well as the Chamber's staff, is very excited to work with her.”
Bacher was most recently general manager at the Hampton Inn in Penn Yan, and has education and experience in Hotel and Resort Management.
A graduate of Penn Yan Academy and Finger Lakes Community College, she has also served on the boards of Finger Lakes Visitors Connection, Geneva Chamber of Commerce, and Finger Lakes Workforce Investment.
Bacher lives in Penn Yan with her husband, Bill, and their two sons.
Bacher is filling the permanent position that became available when Michael Linehan, who had been CEO at the Chamber of Commerce for nearly 25 years died in February. Interim Director Julie Coleman left the area earlier in November just as the Board of Directors began investigating irregularities in financial matters. An investigation by the Yates County Sheriff's Department is ongoing.
The Chamber of Commerce is a membership-based, business organization, focused on community and economic development. As the Tourism Promotion Agency for Yates County, the Chamber of Commerce manages tourism promotion funds generated by occupancy tax revenues. The Chamber of Commerce also administers the Keuka Lake Wine Trail, and manages insurance coverage for members of the chamber.
