Customers bid Bill Pinckney happy retirement
For more than three decades, the last Pinckney involved in the hardware business served the people of Branchport, Pulteney and the surrounding area. And Jan. 25, hundreds turned up at the Pulteney Fire Hall to wish Bill Pinckney a happy retirement as he hands the keys over to the new owners of Branchport Hardware.
The affection all his friends and customers expressed at the party was returned fully by Bill with his customary humor.
Among those who joined Bill were Dickie and Eileen Rogers, two children of Jerome & Mary Rogers from whom Bill bought the store back in the 1980s; and Eric and Jim Jameson the son and father duo who are the new owners of Branchport Hardware.
Eric says customers can expect the same stock and service Bill was known for, but they will see a new garden center added to the store this spring.
