Get 'Bamboozled' this weekend
Chases, plots and laughs abound in “Bamboozled!” The wild comedy, written by Michael Brill with the characters and in the style of commedia dell’arte, tells the story of two young lovers who (with the help of some quick-witted, zany servants) do everything they can to outwit the greedy and jealous misers who stand between their love.
Bamboozled! is the inaugural production of the new Theater Academy program of the Penn Yan Theater Company (PYTCo.). With their director, Alex Bodine, the group of seven local student actors have been working for the past three weeks on voice, physical storytelling, mask, and comedy technique. The culmination of all their hard work is a high energy show with laughs for people in all walks of life.
The PYTCo. Theater Academy ensemble is made up of all Penn Yan Academy students. The earnest but naive lovers, Columbine and Leandro, are played by Reiley Stewart and Garret Golden. The jealous miser, Pantalone, played by Zack Blauvelt, not only has to win out over his younger competition for Columbine’s hand, but he also must win over her greedy guardian, Donna Pocalina, played by Morgan Kingsley-Hunt. The servants who drive the plot, Brighella, Harlequino, and Truffaldino are played by Sarah Wilder, Juan España, and Owen MacFarland, respectively.
