The Yates Summer Concerts on the Courthouse Lawn continue Wednesday, July 25. The featured performers are favorite hometown singers, the Penn Yan Community Chorus. The chorus includes familiar faces from throughout the community. The multi-talented group will perform for free at Courthouse Park, located at Main and Court Streets in Penn Yan beginning at 6:30 p.m. The concert is free and is co-sponsored by Penn Yan Rotary Club and Community Bank.

Under the direction of Jenn Kraemer with accompanist Lucinda Loomis, the chorus will present a show filled with a variety of music that includes themes from movies, Broadway, and overall choir favorites. They also will bring back some familiar sing-along-songs for audience participation. This group works hard, works well together, and is proud of its fame of performing at New York City’s Carnegie Hall.

If anyone is interested in joining Penn Yan Community Chorus, rehearsals will start the last Monday in September at the First Baptist Church. Weekly Monday night rehearsals are from 7 to 9 p.m.

These rehearsals will culminate in a festive Christmas concert held on the first Sunday in December.

Rehearsals will start up again on the last Monday in March leading to a spring concert that will be held the first Sunday in June.

Bring your own lawn chair, and in case of inclement weather, the concert will be held indoors at the neighboring Baptist Church. The intermission treats will be sponsored by the Penn Yan Rotary Club.

A hotdog or hamburger meal will be available at the Baptist Church’s concession stand before the concert begins.

For the convenience of those with kids or grandkids, there is a children’s playtime staffed by Penn Yan Public Library starting at 5:30 p.m. and ending at 7:30 p.m. at the rear of the courtyard.
