Lots of July 4 fun around the lake

Fireworks and flares will light up the nights around Keuka Lake this weekend. Look to the south on July 3 for Hammondsport fireworks and to the north on July 4 for Branchport's.

There will be some exciting events going on this Fourth of July weekend around Keuka Lake.

In Branchport, the weekend begins with a Cruisin’ Night at the Modeste Bedient Library Friday night.

A Lighted Boat Parade begins at 9 p.m. July 3. The parade will start in Branchport, travel to Pulteney and back.

There will be lights, music, and lots of boat-fun.

July 4 looks to be an exciting day in Branchport. There will be a bake sale at the St. Luke’s Episcopal Church starting at 8:30 a.m., a Chicken Barbecue at noon., and the ever-popular Branchport Firemen’s Parade will be starting at 2 p.m., with lining up between 12:30 and 1:30.

“It’s one of the best ones in the region,” says Mike Linehan, CEO of the Chamber of Commerce.

Fireworks will be launched from the Firehouse at 10 p.m. Also at 10 p.m. will be the Night of the Lights, in which people light flares all around Keuka Lake.  

“People light their flares, sit somewhere, and look at the ring of fire around the lake,” says Linehan.

At the south end of the lake, in Hammondsport, the Firemen’s Carnival will be held July 1-3.

In the carnival will be rides from 1-4, the Fireman’s Parade at 6 p.m., and raffles at 10.

On Saturday July 3, there will be a fireworks display starting at 10:30 p.m.

On Seneca Lake, fireworks shows will be held in Watkins Glen at 9:30 p.m. Friday evening.

Race fans attending the IRL?weekend at Watkins Glen International will enjoy fireworks displays on Friday and Saturday night.
