Boys Basketball
Dec. 10: Marcus Whitman 48, Penn Yan 45
Marcus Whitman traveled to Penn Yan to face the Mustangs on Friday night and went home with a three point win.
Cal Andrews had 17 points, including four three-point field goals, to lead Marcus Whitman. Jesse Moore added 12 points for the Wildcats while Nate Miller finished with eight.
James Burdette led Penn Yan with 12 points, followed by Anthony Luppino and Dylan Yonts each with nine.
Dec. 7: Newark 48, Penn Yan 41
Penn Yan led after the first quarter, 13-12, and kept the score close through the third period before surging back in the fourth quarter to tie the game at 38-38. Newark scored seven of the last eight points in the game to take the win.
Penn Yan's Myles Volz led all the scoring with 20 points, 15 which were from 3-pointers.
Penn Yan Coach Jay Hollister said the Mustangs "played great defense but (we) just couldn't get a bucket at the end when we needed it."
The Mustangs host Marcus Whitman Friday at 7:30 p.m. and Pal-Mac at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 14.

Dec. 8: Dundee 68, Romulus, 48
Dundee put this contest out of reach early outscoring the visiting Warriors from across the lake 42-24 in the first half.
Joe Tortolon racked up 22 points to pace the Scotsmen attack.
Garrick Conyers added 17 points while Kyle Woodard tossed in 10.
Dundee improves their record to 3-0 overall. They are 1-0 in the Finger Lakes West.

Dec. 8: Penn Yan 49, Newark 47
Emily Simpson led the Lady Mustangs in their home victory with 21 points and 3 assists. Morgan Simmons added 12 points and Kate Disbrow pitched in 10 points for the effort.
The Penn Yan girls trailed throughout the game: 9-13 after the first quarter; 20-28 at the half and 33-38 after three quarters.
Coach Erin Cunningham reports the team had 12 steals; Chelsi Travis and Katrina Wright had 7 rebounds each and Kate Disbrow had 3 assists and 4 steals.
Dec. 10: Penn Yan 64, Marcus Whitman 37
Once again, Emily Simpson took top scoring honors for Penn Yan with 27 points. She also swept the boards for 11 rebounds. Rachel Roddenbery added 10 points while Kate Disbrow contributed 9.
The energetic Disbrow also produced 5 steals and 6 assists. Kaleigh Neuberger pulled down 11 rebounds also for the Orange and Blue. Hannah Barnett had 8 points and 8 rebounds to pace the Lady Wildcats of Whitman. Casey Dean was Whitman’s top scorer with 12 points.
With the two wins, Penn Yan moves into first place in the Finger Lakes East with a perfect 3-0 record. They are 3-1 overall.

Dec. 7: Romulus 50, Dundee 40
Dundee's Casi Strait was responsible for 1/3 of all the scoring in this game, and all but 10 points scored by the Lady Scots.
Dec. 9: Dundee 43, Honeoye 39
Casi Strait scored 26 points to pace the Dundee offense and Renee Thomas added eight.

Dec. 8: Penn Yan boys (28-0) 3075, Newark 2658
The Mustangs out-Foxed Newark in a 7-0 home match. Dan Fox rolled a 703 series that included a 268 game and Pete Fox rolled a 611 series that included a 245 game.
Penn Yan girls (26-2) 2174, Newark 1623
Brendaya Parsons, with a 555 series and 213 game, led the Lady Mustangs in their 7-0 win Wednesday. Kara Sage added a 207 game.
The Dundee boy’s bowling team upped their Finger Lakes West record to 18-3 with a 7-0 shutout win over Naples at Roseland Bowl on Tuesday afternoon. Devon Miller scored a 676 three game series (235-192-241) to lead the Scotsmen keglers. Dundee outscored Naples 2,406 to 1,979 pins in this contest.
The Dundee girl’s team lost to the Big Green 5-2. Amanda Crans was Dundee’s top bowler with a 478 series (188). Loren Marusarz added a 191 single game. The Lady Scots record falls to 13-8.
Wrestling
Mustangs compete in Corning Duals
The Penn Yan Mustang wrestling squad garnered a very respectable 3-2 record in the Corning Duals on Saturday in Corning. They competed against teams from Pittsford, Canandaigua, Bath, Watkins Glen, as well as the host Corning East team.
The highlight of the day for the local grapplers was a big 40-36 win over Corning in the opening match.
Earlier in the week, Penn Yan was shutout 81-0 by Pal-Mac in Finger Lakes East action. The powerful Red Raiders from Palymra are one of the top programs in the Finger Lakes region.
Dundee falls to South Seneca
The Dundee Scot wrestling team dropped a 72-3 decision to a powerful South Seneca team in Ovid on Tuesday. Stephen Chappell picked up the three team points for Dundee with an overtime 8-6 victory in the 189 lbs. match.
On Saturday, Dundee finsihed in 12th place in the Waterloo Invitational. They scored 43.5 team points in the multi-team event. Lucas Chappell came in fourth place in the 140 lb. event winning 4 out 5 matches. Nick Raplee also came in fourth place in the 152 lb.class. He was victorious in 3 of his 5 matches.
