Beauty and the Beast runs this week

The Penn Yan Academy Drama Club presents its first musical in the new Penn Yan Academy auditorium, Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast.”

This fairy tale featuring great pieces such as, “Beauty and the Beast” and “Be Our Guest,” is designed to thrill both young and old.  

A cast and crew of over 75 people have been working for months to present this production on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, March 10, 11 and 12 at 7 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday, March 12 & 13 at 2 p.m.  

This is the first musical production the drama club is presenting in the newly renovated auditorium, and it will be the final performance as Penn Yan students for several popular local talents, including Amy Stuart, Alex Bodine, Jonah Pielow and more.

The storyline from the 1991 Disney movie, is based on a classic European fairy tale.

The Disney animated feature won Academy Awards for Best Song (Beauty and the Beast) and Best Original Score in addition to being the first animated film to be nominated for an Academy Award for Best Picture.

Presale ticket prices are $7  for adults and $6 for children; at the door: $9 for adults and $7 for children.

Dinner theatre tickets and reservations may be made with The Keuka Restaurant for each performance.
