Keuka Springs Merlot And Mignon is Saturday

Keuka Spring Vineyards will host “Merlot and Mignon” on Saturday, Aug.11. The event features a tasting of library vintages of award-winning Keuka Spring Merlot paired with a filet mignon appetizer sandwich. Guided tastings will be held in small groups on the winery’s terrace overlooking Keuka Lake (weather permitting). This is the only day per year to purchase previous vintages of Keuka Spring Merlot. Visitors will also also the opportunity to taste and purchase Keuka Spring Vineyards 2010 Merlot, which has not yet been released to the public, and earned a 91-pt. rating in this month’s issue of Wine & Spirits Magazine.

A $15 fee covers the tasting, filet mignon appetizer pairing plate, and souvenir wine glass. Special discounts for Keuka Spring case club members apply and wine club members may attend free of charge. Times for tasting are 11a.m.,1 and 3 p.m. and last one hour each. Reservations are suggested and can be made by calling the winery at 315-536-3147.

 “We love to host our annual summer events,” says Judy Wiltberger, co-owner with her husband Len. “At Merlot and Mignon, people are able to savor and comment on each vintage while having fun, learning about wine, and enjoying a little filet mignon complemented by Len’s special Merlot-based sauce. ”

Keuka Spring Vineyards is located at 243 State Route 54, East Lake Road, just outside of Penn Yan on the east side of Keuka Lake. Owners Len and Judy Wiltberger have been committed to producing premium wines since they founded the winery in 1985.
