Keuka Spring Music Series

Kickin’ Back out of Fairport, will play on Sept.1 at Keuka Spring Vineyards. The third band and fourth date is Irish traditional folk songs by The Galtee Mountain Boys on Sept. 9. All of the music events are free and open to the public. Music will begin at 1 p.m. each afternoon, and guest are encouraged to bring chairs, pop-up tents, or blankets.

Seneca Heritage Day

The Middlesex Heritage Group has announced the annual Seneca Heritage Day is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 1 from 12:30 to 4 p.m. at the Overacker Schoolhouse, corner of Route 364 and North Vine Valley Road.  This free event is open to the public and will include displays in the 1874 restored schoolhouse as well as guest speakers, a Native American story teller and craft demonstrator, and music. Events will lead up to the annual bonfire on Bare Hill signaling start of the “Ring of Fire” around Canandaigua Lake.

12:30 p.m.  Grounds Open and Food Available

1:30 p.m. Ronnie Reiter, Native American Storyteller

2 p.m. Peter Jemison, site manager, Ganondagan State Historic Site, with other Iroquois leaders will present a historical reenactment of the Native American deliberations leading up to participation in the War of 1812.

2 p.m. Ronnie Reiter will teach children’s Native American crafts

3:15 p.m. Music by Larry Laursen

9 p.m. Annual bonfire on Bare Hill.  Begin hike at 8 p.m. flashlights and blankets recommended.

2010 Tierce Riesling Release Party

The 2010 Tierce Riesling Release Party will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Sept. 1 at Anthony Road Wine Company. This is a chance to mingle with the "Tierce Brothers," Peter Bell of Fox Run Vineyards, David Whiting of Red Newt Cellars and Johannes Reinhardt of  Anthony Road Wine Company who created Tierce as an expression of the synergy of three distinctive winegrowing subregions of Seneca Lake. Chef Michael Murphy will prepare passed hors d'oeuvres and small bites. Music from Alex Robb on the guitar. $25/person.

Chicken Barbecue

Branchport United Methodist Church will serve a Chicken Barbecue beginning at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 1 until gone.  Adults: $8 - Under 10: $4.50;  ½ chicken-$4.00.  Take out or eat in.
