On December 20, 2007, the Penn Yan Area Volunteer Ambulance Corps gave a $10,000 gift to Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hospital to help construct a workspace within the S&S Emergency Department for local EMS personnel while on duty at the hospital.

The gift was presented to the Finger Lakes Health Foundation in support of the new space, which is part of a multi-phase $9 million project at S&S. The project is expected to begin in March 2008 and will take approximately two years to complete. In addition to the renovation and expansion of the Emergency Department, the project will include relocation of the Rehabilitation Services and Cardiac Rehab programs to the main floor of the hospital, a new main entrance, a new lobby, reconfigured parking areas, and a private registration area.
