Once a Girl Scout, always a Girl Scout, says Delight Fisher of Bellona, who is planning a special celebration of Girl Scouts 99th Birthday.

Fisher, a 63-year member of Girl Scouts, is hosting an event from 1 to 3 p.m. March 12 at the Pinwheel Market, Café Next Door on Main Street in Penn Yan.

The event will feature cookies baked using the original 1920’s Girl Scout Cookie recipe and area Juliettes modeling vintage uniforms.

Fisher will also share some of her memorabilia collection.

She hopes the March 12 event will inspire ideas for celebrating the 100th anniversary of Girl Scouting in 2012.

“This whole year should be to celebrate,” she says.

Fisher and her husband, Roy, moved to Bellona from Oregon three years ago.

As the couple moved around the countryside over the years, she was able to build her collection of Girl Scouting items, and it’s been a way for her to establish and build relationships.

Her collection includes a 1931 poster of Juliette Low, the founder of Girl Scouts, badges, pins, cookie tins, figurines, a variety of uniforms from different eras, and several books.
