Lenten Luncheon Series begins March 10

The 2011 Lenten Luncheon Series begins Thursday, March 10 and runs for six consecutive Thursdays, ending  April 14.

They are sponsored by the Penn Yan Area Council of Churches and will be held at the Penn Yan United Methodist Church on the corner of Main and Chapel Street in Penn Yan.

The time is from noon to 1 p.m.  The price is $4 for people 60 and over and $5 for guests under 60.  The menus, host churches and speakers are:

March 10: Salisbury Steak, hosted by First Presbyterian Church. Adrienne Russell of the Penn Yan United Methodist Church will speak about “At the City Gates.”

March 17: Sloppy Joe, hosted by Dresden and Second Milo United Methodist Churches. Paul Malles of the First Presbyterian, Penn Yan will speak about “In the Temple Courtyard.”

March 24: Shepherd’s Pie, hosted by Bluff Point Methodist and St. Paul Lutheran, the topic will be “In An Upper Room,” the speaker will be Michele Fischer of the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.

March 31:  Meatloaf, hosted by St. Mark’s and St. Luke’s Episcopal Churches. Robert Ring of St. Michel’s Catholic Church will speak about“Garden of Gethsemane.”

April  7:  Chicken and Biscuits, hosted by First Baptist Church. Rich Norman of the White Stone Chapel will speak about “In a Fortress Courtyard.”

April 14: Sliced baked ham, hosted by St. Michael’s Catholic Church. Judy White of the Bluff Point United Methodist Church will speak about “On A Hill Called Golgotha.”

Note:  If the schools are closed there will not be a luncheon.
