Trick or Treat hours in most area communities will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 31. Children should only go to homes with porch lights turned on, remind Dundee Village officials.

Here’s the low-down on area Halloween activities, some which will be held on Saturday, Oct. 29 and Sunday, Oct. 30, making the fun last for three days.

Once the kids have gathered their sacks of loot, they can cash it in at Eaves Dental Group, where the candy will be sent to soldiers, and the kids will get $1 per pound of goodies.

Penn Yan Kiwanis, Rotary and Lions Clubs will offer a supervised Halloween Party to all elementary and preschool age children in the Penn Yan area Sunday, Oct. 30 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Note this is not on the traditional Halloween night. Information for parents will be sent home from school with children.

The Rotary Interact and Rotaract Clubs will supervise games with candy prizes. Hotdogs, chili, cider and apples will be available, along with face painting.  Other organizations making this event possible are Catholic Daughters, the Elks Club ‘Just Say No Drug’ Awareness Program,  Penn Yan Fire Department and the Yates County Sheriff’s Department.

Some club members will be in costume to add to the festivities. Parents are encouraged to participate in all activities and children must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

The annual parade and party hosted by the Dundee Fire Department Auxiliary will step off from Five Star Bank at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 29. The parade goes to the Dundee Central School, where a costume contest will be held in the gymnasium.

On Halloween night, people are invited to participate in Trunk or Treat in the parking lot at Martini’s Shurfine. Decorate your truck or trunk and hand out treats there during regular trick or treat hours.

The Dresden Fire Department will offer refreshments and a warm place to stop for a rest during Trick or Treating.

All area kids are invited to Trick or Treat at the shops at The Windmill Farm & Craft Market at 2:30 p.m. Oct. 29. At 4 p.m. there will be free cider and donuts along with costume awards given in four categories.

Once you have collected all the treats you can carry, you can trade them in for cash at Eaves Family Dental Group in Penn Yan.
