Social Distancing Ice Cream Social
The Arts Center of Yates County’s annual Ice Cream Social fundraising event will be held Sunday, Aug. 2 from 1–4 p.m. at the organization’s Sunny Point facility on Keuka Lake.
The Social, which will be structured to take social distancing recommendations into consideration, has become a popular local summertime activity. More than a dozen local and area potters have donated handcrafted bowls to the event, which benefits programs and operations at the Arts Center.
Participants buy a handcrafted bowl for $20, which is then filled with Seneca Farms ice cream, subjected to a variety of luscious toppings (including homemade hot fudge sauce!) and consumed along the shore of Keuka Lake, all while enjoying music provided by Penn Yan’s Will Knepple.
Bowls include work by Monica Sommerville, Havill Potters, Kim Cutler, Laura Wallace, Stephanie Marshall, Faith Benedict, Hannah Graeper, Mike Maxwell, the Rochester Area Folk Art Guild, Debbie Koop and others. Bowls are sold on a first come, first served basis.
The event is being held at the Arts Center’s seasonal facility at 868 East Lake Road.
Parking is available along the shoulders of Route 54 and a shuttle is being arranged.
Although most of the activity will be out of doors, please wear a mask to ensure interactions are as safe as possible.
