The Finger Lakes Health Foundation recently announced the winner of the 2007 Gary Garverick Memorial Award.  The award, in the amount of $1,000, was given to Yates County Advanced Life Support/Medic 55.  The funds will be used to purchase an on-line training program for ALS staff and volunteers to keep current on necessary education and certification.

The award, provided by the Finger Lakes Health Foundation, memorializes Gary W. Garverick, former emergency medical services coordinator for Yates County, whose outstanding service was instrumental in the development of a strong emergency response program in our community.  Initiated in 2000, the annual award is available to emergency service organizations within Yates County to help purchase specialized equipment, educational programs, or training.

Previous recipients of this award include the Fire Departments in Branchport-Keuka Park, Benton, and Himrod; the Dundee Emergency Squad; the Middlesex Valley Volunteer Ambulance Service; and the Rape & Abuse Crisis Service of the Finger Lakes.
