Still time to volunteer for Christmas for the Needy

Christmas for the Needy is a volunteer-run project and cannot complete its mission without the help of hundreds of generous individuals throughout the year.

Board members meet regularly, and shopping, sorting and planning go on year round to help make the most of every dollar. In addition to food, children and families are provided with new clothes, personal care items, toys, books, and family games.

All are welcome to apply; our program has no income guidelines. Applications for those needing Santa’s assistance are available at the Yates County Office for the Aging and at the Dundee Youth Center. If you are unable to pick up an application, please call the Office for the Aging at 315-536-5515.

If you are interested in lending a hand this season please contact Joyce Veil at 315-536-6788, volunteers are needed as bell ringers, strong individuals with trucks, food basket packers, clothing and toy sorters, cheerful shopping assistants and take down/clean up helpers. Local churches, civic groups, and individuals continue to ring the bells throughout Penn Yan and Dundee up to and including Christmas Eve. No donation is too small to help our efforts.

One hundred percent of what is collected stays in Yates County. There are no administrative costs and every penny is spent to provide items for distribution.   We gratefully accept your monetary donations at P.O. Box 145, Penn Yan or at the Five Star Bank in Dundee.
